DEEPEN's M4P approach - finding out market constraints, incentivising market players like W-Holistic Business Solutions (W-HBS), and supporting their capacity to take advantage of the opportunities, led to the creation of SEED (Sustainable Education & Enterprise Development). SEED, the social impact project of W-HBS, started with DEEPEN's Tier 1 Technical Assistant Grant to run a pilot program supporting 51 low-fee private schools in 2 Local Government Areas in Lagos, Nigeria with Business Development Services (BDS).

On 28 March 2018 at the Close-Out Event and Innovation Fair of DEEPEN Challenge Fund, SEED presented its interim results, surpassing targets in all areas. SEED continued to implement based on the Challenge Fund agreement till August 2018. SEED's work was showcased at DEEPEN dissemination events to government and other education stakeholders in Kano and Ogun States, Nigeria. On 17 September 2018, SEED received the DEEPEN award for contributing to improving learning outcomes in private schools, especially for children from low-income households in Nigeria. SEED had reached a total of 715 schools with 65,170 children and 5,986 teaching & non-teaching staff. By 2019, SEED started testing the "Feasibility" of its intervention to determine low-fee private school's willingness and ability to pay for support as a sustainability strategy.

There were many bumps on the road and setbacks to our journey. SEED decided to take a step back and review its journey, taking into account all the peer organisations that received DEEPEN support. The focus and traction of support for low-fee private schools had waned. SEED had experienced a period of learning and growth, during which it had built a trusted name and established a reputation as the go-to organisation on low-fee private education in Nigeria, The impact of SEED could not just end, so the Executive Director started rebuilding one step at a time, starting with giving SEED a new life as it was clear the way SEED was structured could not support the vision.
