- Leave a Comment on SEED Appoints Samuel Badekale as Ambassador to Champion Affordable Non-State Education
On April 23, 2025, SEED Care & Support Foundation proudly announced the appointment of Samuel Badekale as its newest ambassador—a milestone that reinforces the foundation’s commitment to promoting quality education in low-income communities.
Samuel, a brilliant scholar and youth leader, graduated from the Department of Cell Biology and Genetics at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) with a perfect CGPA of 5.00. This extraordinary feat earned him the distinction of Best Graduating Student in Sciences and the Overall Best Graduating Student for the 2023/2024 academic session.
His appointment marks SEED’s second ambassadorial recognition, following that of Mariam Longe—an award-winning TV presenter, environmental advocate, and children’s book author—who was appointed in November 2024. Samuel was presented with an award plaque in recognition of his unwavering commitment to the values and vision of SEED.
Rooted in the Affordable Non-State Sector, Rising with Purpose
Samuel’s journey is a powerful testament to the potential of affordable non-state education. Raised in Mushin, one of Lagos State’s most vibrant yet underserved neighbourhoods, his educational path was shaped by financial limitations, frequent relocations, and unconventional learning environments.
Because of his parents’ modest means, Samuel attended four different low-fee private schools—often the only option for families with limited resources. His mother, a devoted teacher, nurtured his early love for learning, and tutorial centers served as essential support during critical academic years.
Despite these challenges, Samuel thrived. As part of the first graduating class of his secondary school, he had no alumni network to lean on and few examples to emulate. Yet, he carved a path of excellence, setting a benchmark for future students. His academic story dismantles the stereotype that greatness only springs from elite institutions. It proves that brilliance can emerge from even the most resource-constrained environments.
His success at UNILAG didn’t just garner accolades; it led to his appointment as an Education Ambassador for the Ogun State Government—further validating the limitless potential in students from affordable non-state schools.
Samuel’s leadership extends well beyond academics. As founder of the SkillUp Initiative and co-founder of Students Mental Health Advocates at UNILAG, he has championed mental health awareness and student empowerment. His work with the university’s Counseling Unit reflects a strong commitment to holistic education and well-being. He also served as the licensee for TEDxIdiAraba, creating a platform to amplify stories of innovation and resilience within his community.
In his faith community, Samuel has long been a mentor and role model. He served for six years as Head of Bible Study at LP65 Junior Church, was the Teens and Children President at his local church, and taught at RCCG Place of His Presence.
Carrying SEED’s Vision Forward
Samuel’s official unveiling as a SEED ambassador was more than an event—it was a celebration of excellence, resilience, and possibility. His story reflects the powerful impact that affordable non-state schools can have when students are supported, inspired, and given the tools to succeed.
As an ambassador, Samuel will play a key role in advancing SEED’s mission. He will advocate for inclusive, quality education, amplify the voices of underserved communities, and help position affordable non-state schools as vital contributors to Nigeria’s education ecosystem.
His story is living proof that excellence is not linked to where you live—and that with the right support, great things can come from small places.
