On November 5th, 2024, during the much-anticipated SEED Launch and Conference, SEED Care & Support Foundation proudly appointed its very first ambassador, Mariam Longe.

Mariam Longe is an award-winning television presenter, environmental advocate, and children’s book author. She currently serves as the ambassador for Conservation Without Borders’ “Flight of the Vultures” campaign.

With over five years of experience, Mariam co-hosts Your View, Nigeria’s leading breakfast show on TVC, where she and her co-hosts engage in in-depth discussions on critical socio-economic and political issues affecting the country.

Her outstanding contributions to television have been recognised, most notably when she was awarded “Television Personality of the Year” at the ELOY (Exquisite Lady of the Year) Awards in 2021. Mariam is also a two-time ambassador for the Nigerian Conservation Foundation’s “Save the Vultures and Wildlife” campaign, reflecting her unwavering commitment to environmental conservation. Through her television appearances and social media platforms, she actively raises awareness  about environmental sustainability and the urgent need to protect our natural resources.

Mariam has hosted numerous high-profile environmental events, including those organised by the Lagos State Office of Circular Economy and the Nigerian Conservation Foundation. She has had the privilege of interviewing notable figures, such as Chief Phillip C. Asiodu CFR, CON, and many other distinguished personalities.

Her children’s book, Vultures to the Rescue: The Clean-Up Crew, has been widely praised for educating young readers about the critical role vultures play in maintaining ecological balance. It gained recognition from Conservation Without Borders, leading to her appointment as an ambassador for their “Flight of the Vultures” campaign. The book continues to receive acclaim from children, parents, educators, schools, government bodies, and corporate organisations.

In addition to her media and advocacy work, Mariam is the founder of Lifestyle with ML, a health-focused coaching programme that encourages individuals to embrace healthier lifestyles through improved diet and exercise.

A Champion for Literacy and Environmental Awareness

Prior to her appointment as SEED Ambassador, Mariam Longe made an unforgettable visit to Fembisco Nursery School in Yaba, Lagos, one of SEED’s schools. During her visit, she led a captivating read-aloud session featuring her storybook, “Vultures to the Rescue: The Clean-Up Crew.”

The story, which is both engaging and educational, was carefully crafted to instill a love for reading while promoting environmental awareness in young learners. With her dynamic storytelling, Mariam brought the pages to life, encouraging students to ask questions, share their thoughts, and engage with the book’s central themes of teamwork and environmental stewardship.

The interactive session sparked curiosity and enthusiasm among the children, leaving a lasting impression. To further amplify the book’s impact, every child received their own personal copy of “Vultures to the Rescue: The Clean-Up Crew.” This thoughtful gesture not only extended the lessons of the story beyond the classroom but also aligned with SEED’s mission to foster literacy and lifelong learning in underserved communities.

The Role of SEED’s First Ambassador

As SEED’s first ambassador, Mariam Longe is set to play a pivotal role in championing our mission and vision. Her work with SEED will amplify the foundation’s advocacy for education, inspire broader community engagement, and mobilize resources to further its initiatives.

Her appointment marks a new chapter for SEED. With Mariam Longe’s passion for literacy, storytelling, and environmental advocacy, SEED is poised to reach new heights in its mission to transform education in underserved communities.
